Sounds like you had a nice time in Cali. As for Finland, Viren was a policeman and in speaking about his day to day work, he made it seem like the toughest duty he had was to write up a parking ticket. The Finn's athletic motto is "Sisu" which loosely translates to "never giving up...fight to the end" The "Flying Finns" included: Kollemeinen, Ritola, Nurmi, Isoholla, Viattinan, Viren, and on and on...

The national pride of "Sisu" is not to be messed with for sure. Karhu actually has a mascot who is named Sisu the Bear. He shows up at some of the events we do, but wasn't in DC for whatever reason. I guess he was hibernating.

I've been to Helsinki and got to see the Olympic stadium with a statue of Paavo Nurmi out front.
